This assessment defined safety requirements of the Maintenance Department within a refinery.

Oil and Hazardous Substance Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan

This manual was designed to satisfy PADER requirements for facilities handling oil and hazardous substances.  It included a summary of EPA laws, a survey of the PA refinery, spill response procedures, an emergency telephone directory, and an appendix of relevant APPs.

Needs Assessment

The purpose of this project involved identifying the training needs of all refinery personnel training – 360 degree survey at all levels.  Specific areas covered included:  administration, process operations, maintenance, warehousing, and shipping.  A comprehensive series of training recommendations was made for all personnel.

Enclosed Area Procedures, Hot Work Procedures, and Gas Testing

These training programs presented Enclosed Area/Hot Work/Gas Testing Procedures and how to complete the forms required for those procedures in a refinery.

Presentation Skills

This project taught technical personnel to handle difficult learners and use visual tools in their presentations.

I Can Make A Difference

This videotape introduced the company's safety campaign entitled "I Can Make A Difference."

Safety Policies and Procedures

This comprehensive manual explained all safety policies and procedures in operating a major petrochemical research facility.

Auditor Training

This safety program trained employees in how to conduct inspection audits.

Safety Training Programs

This program designed and produced nine safety training programs (Environmental Training (Focus on Title V), Worker’s Compensation, Human Error, Fire Protection, Process Safety Management Regulations, OSHA Regulations, Industrial Hygiene Overview, Basic Chemistry and Higher Math) for HSE department.

Contractor Safety Manual

This manual described all the safety policies and procedures contractor personnel must follow when working in a refinery.

Sales Training Program

This program presented basic product knowledge and selling techniques to company and distributor salespeople.

Basic Safety Training Program

This training program explained basic safety training concepts and OSHA regulations in a classroom-based training program.

Testing Procedures: Oxygen Deficiency, Toxicity, Flammability

This training program was designed to introduce refinery personnel to procedures involved with testing for oxygen deficiency, toxicity, and flammability in the refinery.

Dispersion Modeling

This three-part slide presentation discussed the possible impact on employees and the
community should chemicals ever be released into the atmosphere by their PA Refinery.

Emergency Management System

This manual presented all aspects of Emergency Management System.

Refinery Operating Manual

This project developed a Refinery Operating Manual that combined On-Call,
Supervisory, and Safety Procedures manuals into one easy-to-access document.

Refinery Shutdown Procedures

This training program developed a guide for shutting down the refinery for extensive repair or maintenance.

Hydrogen Fluoride

This brochure explained the precautions to take when working in units containing hydrogen fluoride.

Safety Practices Needs Analysis

Loss Control Management

This videotape introduced employees to the International Loss Control Institute (ILCI) system through interviews with the president of Refining and Marketing offices and other companies.

This comprehensive program was designed to facilitate compliance with OSHA's Process Hazard Management regulation.  It included a Process Hazard Management manual, Train-the-Trainer programs, and Test Construction workshops.

Refinery Safety Policies and Procedures

This manual explained the safety policies and procedures of company’s Tulsa and Toledo refineries.

This booklet described the hazards associated with retail petroleum products.

Refinery Permit Procedures

This training program taught personnel how to issue and work with various refinery permits.

This training program explained the policies and procedures that contractors must follow when working in the refinery.

Safety Plans-Short and Long-Range

This slide presentation addressed the additional safety measures to be implemented at a refinery over a five-year period.

The Spirit of Customer Service

This videotape-based program with Trainee's and Leader's Guides was aimed at presenting important customer service concepts to employees.  This program won the blue ribbon at the American Film and Video Festival.

No Room for Error (Confined Space)

This training program was designed to meet OSHA requirements related to entering and working on confined spaces.

RCRA

This videotape-based technical skill program explained the recordkeeping requirements of RCRA.
